Birth of an Online Entrepreneur...

It is fascinating to me the melting pot of people that feel led to explore and tap in to the lure of the internet as they pursue an alternative means of income.

In recent times, as a result of the upheaval of the global economy, more and more people are pursuing a career in internet marketing as a way out of their financial woes.

As someone who for 20 years, has been an offline entrepreneur, I was perhaps one of the more unlikely candidates to have followed this path.

My husband Garth and I have operated multiple businesses in a very volatile economy in Jamaica.

We have endured extremely ridiculous interest rates of up to 70% on loans and over 100%on overdrafts. Despite this, we were able to stay afloat and to survive.

As you can imagine however, these conditions did not encourage even the bravest of entrepreneurs to further invest and with the sliding value of the Jamaican dollar, the ability to earn US dollars became increasingly attractive.

Our family lives in a very remote part of the island and we are perched on the top of a mountain with nothing other than rolling pasture lands around us for miles. For many years we did not even have a phone, let alone computers, as there was no service available to us.

All that has changed, thankfully and we have joined the 21st Century and now have wireless internet, ADSL, wii's...the list goes on :)

Three years ago, I became involved with an MLM business. I started pounding the pavement, holding meetings, chasing everyone I know, trying to convince them that I had the answer to all their financial concerns and whats more, it was going to make them slimmer, healthier and younger to boot!

Well, this lasted for about 6 months! I actually met with great success (or at least that is what I was told), as I had built a downline and was 6 distributors away from "earning" a BMW!

Then the statistical attrition hit! The dwindling check, no longer motivated me and so I turned to the internet to see how I could turn it all around.

This was my "aha moment"!! In no time I had plunged into all the training and started to devour course after course. I landed myself an amazing mentor and I hungered for more and more knowledge. I had learnt that the more value I added to myself is the more valuable that I would be to others.

Now 3 years later, I have become addicted, as it were! I love learning and more importantly implementing, and seeing the results of my efforts.

My greatest satisfaction comes from seeing the success of the people that I now mentor. I would encourage you, if you are starting out on this journey, stay the course, follow your dreams and never give up!
